Who can take part

  • Your baby must have moderate or severe HIE (brain injury from low oxygen at birth).
  • Your baby must have had seizures (any type) or abnormal brain wave readings within the first 72 hours of life.
  • Your baby's seizures cannot be caused by another condition like a metabolic disorder or a vitamin B6 problem.
  • Your baby's kidney function must be normal (creatinine level lower than 1.6 mg/dl).
  • Your baby must not have received any anti-seizure medicine before joining this trial.
