Who can take part

  • Your baby was born at full term (37 weeks or later).
  • Your baby had a low Apgar score (less than 5) at 1 minute after birth.
  • Cord blood test showed acidosis (low pH or high base deficit).
  • Your baby has been diagnosed with at least moderate hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE).
  • Your baby does not have major birth defects, growth restriction, suspected infection, heart disease, or inherited metabolic disorders.
