- You have had nerve pain in both legs for at least 6 months, confirmed by a standard exam.
- You have type 1 or type 2 diabetes and your blood sugar (HbA1c) is below 11%.
- You have been on a stable diabetes treatment for at least 3 months before starting.
- Your weight is within a healthy range (BMI of 40 or less).
- You are not pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant.
- You do not have other major causes of pain (such as amputation, heart problems, or very low vitamin B12).
