Comparing blood-clotting medicines for trauma patients needing many transfusions

Who can take part

  • You must be 18 years or older.
  • You must have a severe injury from a trauma (like a car crash or fall) that was serious enough to activate the highest trauma response.
  • You must need a massive transfusion, meaning at least 3 units of blood within the first hour or 10 units within the first day.
  • You cannot have a traumatic heart injury.
  • You cannot be on blood-thinning medicine before the injury.
  • You cannot be pregnant or have a terminal illness before the injury.
