  • You are 18 years or older.
  • Your systolic blood pressure (the top number) is 140 or higher.
  • Your doctor has said you need medication to treat high blood pressure.
  • Your systolic blood pressure is not 180 or higher.
  • You are not already taking three or more different blood pressure medications.
