  • You were in the intensive care unit at Hautepierre Hospital in Strasbourg between 2014 and 2023
  • You had lactic acidosis within the first 24 hours of being in the hospital

This trial tests if metformin, a medicine commonly used for diabetes, can help improve heart function in people who have a mechanical heart pump (LVAD). You may be able to join if you are between 18 and 75, have a continuous-flow LVAD, and have a condition called insulin resistance (where your body doesn't use insulin well) but your blood sugar levels are well-controlled.
