Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 60 years old.
- You have suffered an injury (trauma) and need orthopedic surgery on your leg or foot.
- You will receive spinal anesthesia (numbing from the waist down) and a tourniquet on your leg during surgery.
- Your health is generally good (classified as ASA I or II).
- You do NOT have a very slow heart rate, heart block, uncontrolled low blood pressure, or a fever.
- You are not allergic to the study drugs (dexmedetomidine or midazolam), and you do not have severe liver, kidney, or psychiatric problems, or regularly take sedatives.
