Leg muscle training to improve walking after stroke

Who can take part

  • Had a stroke (either from a clot or bleeding) confirmed by a brain scan
  • Between 45 and 60 years old
  • Can walk at least 10 meters (about 30 feet) with or without some help from a therapist
  • Have weakness in your foot muscles, but can still move them against some resistance
  • Have some increased muscle tightness in your leg, but not severe spasticity
  • No other major nerve or muscle conditions affecting your legs, recent leg fractures, or severe joint problems
