Who can take part
- You are 18 years or older
- You have ARDS caused by an acute condition like pneumonia, infection, trauma, or shock
- You are on a breathing machine (mechanical ventilator) and have been for no more than 72 hours
- Your lung x-ray or CT shows white patches on both sides, not fully explained by other issues
- Your oxygen levels are low (PaO2/FiO2 ≤ 300 or SpO2/FiO2 ≤ 315)
- You do not have certain conditions that make EIT or prone positioning unsafe (e.g., pacemaker, spinal fractures, severe brain pressure)
