If you are an adult with type 2 diabetes and a BMI of 23 or higher, this study might help find a treatment that also supports weight loss.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older
  • You have type 2 diabetes and your HbA1c (a blood sugar test over 3 months) is between 7% and 10% while taking metformin with or without other diabetes pills
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is 23 or higher
  • You have not taken any SGLT2 inhibitor (like canagliflozin, dapagliflozin, empagliflozin), insulin, or GLP-1 agonists (like liraglutide, semaglutide) in the last 90 days
  • You do not have severe kidney disease (eGFR less than 45)
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding
