Who can take part

  • You are between 30 and 75 years old.
  • You have type 2 diabetes and your hemoglobin A1c is between 7.0% and 11%.
  • Your body mass index is between 21 and 45.
  • Your kidney function is good (eGFR above 60).
  • Your blood pressure is 160 over 90 or lower.
  • Your weight has been stable (within 3 pounds) for the last 3 months and you are not doing very heavy exercise.
  • You are not currently taking insulin or certain other diabetes medications (thiazolidinediones).
