Who can take part

  • You are between 30 and 75 years old.
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is between 21 and 45.
  • Your HbA1c (average blood sugar over 3 months) is between 7.0% and 11%.
  • Your kidney function is good (eGFR above 60).
  • Your blood pressure is 160/90 or lower.
  • You have been on a stable dose of metformin, a sulfonylurea, or both for at least 3 months (or a GLP-1 drug for 3 months, or a DPP-4 inhibitor for 2 months).
  • You have not taken a SGLT2 inhibitor (like canagliflozin) in the last 2 months, and you have not taken TZDs or insulin.
