Who can take part
- You are a Japanese adult (18 years or older) with a diagnosis of low- or intermediate-risk MDS.
- You have anemia that requires red blood cell transfusions (at least 4 units in 16 weeks) or you have anemia with hemoglobin below 10 g/dL and related symptoms like fatigue.
- You have not responded to or cannot take standard treatments like erythropoiesis-stimulating agents (EPO or darbepoetin), or your body makes too much EPO naturally.
- You have a good enough health status to perform daily activities (ECOG 0-2).
- You must be willing to use effective birth control if you are of childbearing potential, or if you are male with a partner who could become pregnant.
