Kidney removal with or without lymph node removal for high risk kidney cancer

Who can take part

  • You are scheduled for surgery to remove your entire kidney (radical nephrectomy).
  • Your kidney cancer is considered high risk (for example, it's stage T3 or T4, or has spread to nearby lymph nodes, or you have had treatment to wipe out all visible metastatic spots).
  • You have at least one visible tumor that can be measured on scans (RECIST v1.1).
  • You are in good general health (ECOG 0 or 1) and your organs (bone marrow, kidneys, liver) are working well enough for surgery.
  • You have not received any prior cancer therapy for this kidney cancer (like radiation, chemo, or targeted pills).
  • You do not have another active cancer, a serious autoimmune disease, a recent blood clot or bleeding issue, or active infection.
