Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 65 years old
  • You are scheduled for elective lower back surgery under general anesthesia
  • Your surgery will be done lying face down and is expected to last at least 2 hours
  • You are generally healthy (ASA physical status I or II)
  • You do not have chronic lung or heart disease, have no history of chest surgery, and are not pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Your BMI is 30 or less
