This study tests whether a sedation medicine called dexmedetomidine changes how much tears your eyes produce during an angioplasty procedure. If you are scheduled for an angioplasty and do not have existing dry eye problems, you may be eligible.

Who can take part
- You are scheduled for an elective angioplasty (heart or leg artery widening) that will use sedation medicine.
- You can understand and agree to the study, and complete eye symptom questionnaires.
- You do not have moderate or severe dry eye disease, Sjögren's syndrome, or an active eye infection.
- You have not had eye surgery in the last 3 months and have not worn contact lenses in the past 24 hours.
- You are not allergic to the study sedation drugs (dexmedetomidine, midazolam, fentanyl, or propofol).
- You do not have a very slow heart rate (below 50 beats per minute) or a heart block without a pacemaker.
