Study of low oxygen in full-term newborns

Neonatal Acidemia and Hypoxia

Who can take part

  • You must be 18 years or older and receiving care at the study hospital.
  • You are pregnant with one baby (not twins or more).
  • Your baby's cord blood pH is below 7.00 (a measure of oxygen levels at birth).
  • Your baby is born at 37 weeks or later (full term).
  • Your baby has no known birth defects.
  • You have a cardiotocography recording (a monitor of baby's heartbeat and your contractions).
