Immediate vs. Staged Procedures for Heart Attacks with Multiple Blockages
Part of Heart & circulation clinical trials.
This trial compares two ways to treat patients who have had a recent heart attack and have multiple blocked arteries. It tests whether fixing all blockages at once is better than doing it in stages.
Summary written for real people, not researchers, by Clin2.
Who can take part
- You have had a recent heart attack with multiple blocked arteries.
- You are 18 years or older.
- Your main blockage has already been treated with a stent within 72 hours of diagnosis.
- You have at least one other artery that is at least 70% blocked or has positive test results and is suitable for stenting.
- You are not in cardiogenic shock, have not had clot-busting drugs, and do not have other serious health conditions like severe kidney disease.

This study compares doing all heart artery procedures right away versus doing part of them later in people who had a heart attack and have blockage in more than one artery. It aims to see which approach is safer and works better after the initial emergency procedure.
This trial studies whether doing a planned, staged treatment for some artery blockages after a heart attack can improve outcomes. It uses detailed images of the heart arteries and compares results in people who are stable after their initial emergency procedure.
This trial compares when to do a stent procedure (PCI) in people with NSTEMI who have disease in more than one coronary artery (non-IRA). It may help doctors choose the safest and most effective timing for treatment to improve outcomes.
This trial is looking at the best time to treat other narrowed arteries in people who had a heart attack and already had the main blockage opened. It compares doing the additional procedures during the same session versus waiting a few days or weeks.
This trial compares different ways to treat serious heart artery blockages in people with a recent heart attack or unstable chest pain. It aims to see which revascularization approach works best when doctors think the heart arteries can be fully treated.
This trial compares two ways doctors decide which additional blocked heart arteries to treat with stents soon after a heart attack. It may help patients avoid later heart problems by testing a “complete revascularization” strategy planned after the initial culprit artery was treated.
