Who can take part

  • You have been referred for lung volume reduction surgery at Rigshospitalet due to emphysema caused by COPD.
  • You do not have symptoms of heart disease such as chest pain or heart failure.
  • You are able to complete high-intensity exercise training and understand the instructions.
  • You do not have circulation problems in your legs (claudication) or active malignant disease.
  • You are not pregnant and have not had an acute illness in the past 2 weeks.
  • You do not have unstable heart rhythm problems or significant kidney or liver disease.
