Who can take part
- You are 19 years old or older.
- You are scheduled to have shock wave lithotripsy (a non-surgical procedure that uses sound waves to break up kidney stones).
- You have not had this procedure in the last 6 months.
- You have not used narcotic pain medication in the last 2 days.
- You are not allergic to midazolam, fentanyl, acetaminophen (Tylenol), or ketorolac (an anti-inflammatory pain reliever).
- You do not have chronic kidney disease, a single kidney, active stomach ulcers, significant liver disease, or an elevated risk of bleeding (e.g., taking blood thinners).
