Testing body position therapy for ARDS with electrical impedance tomography

Who can take part

  • You must be 18 years or older.
  • You must have ARDS (acute respiratory distress syndrome), as defined by the Berlin definition updated in 2023.
  • Your doctor must think that lying on your side (known as lateral positioning) is safe and might help you.
  • You do not have severe spine or muscle problems that would make side-lying unsafe.
  • You do not have serious skin wounds or pressure sores that could be made worse by lying on your side.
