Who can take part

  • You are scheduled for a planned (not emergency) hip or knee replacement with at least 8 weeks until surgery.
  • You are 18 to 99 years old.
  • You have a moderate to high health risk rating from your doctor (ASA score of 3 or higher).
  • You can understand study details and give your okay in writing.
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding, and have not had major trauma or blood loss in the last 2 weeks.
