AnchorMan Left Atrial Appendage Closure Study

Who can take part

  • You are at least 18 years old and have atrial fibrillation (a type of irregular heartbeat) that is not caused by a heart valve problem.
  • You have a high risk of stroke (based on your age, health, and gender) and you either cannot take blood thinners long-term, have had bleeding problems, or have had a stroke despite taking blood thinners.
  • You do not have severe heart valve disease, severe heart failure, a recent heart attack (within 3 months), or a blood clot in your heart.
  • You have not had a new stroke or mini-stroke in the last 30 days, and you are not allergic to aspirin, clopidogrel, heparin, or contrast dye.
  • Your kidney function is good enough (not on dialysis and eGFR above 45), and you can take blood thinners for at least 2 months after the procedure.
