Who can take part
- You have atrial fibrillation that is not caused by a heart valve problem, and it comes and goes or is ongoing.
- Your doctor has determined you have a high risk of stroke based on a scoring system like CHADS2 or CHA2DS2-VASc.
- You are eligible for blood thinners but have a reason to seek an alternative, like the left atrial appendage closure procedure.
- You can have a CT scan or a special ultrasound of your heart before the procedure.
- You are willing and able to follow the study plan and give written consent.
- You are 18 years or older.

This study is for people who had a stroke despite taking blood thinners for atrial fibrillation. It tests if adding a procedure to close the left atrial appendage (a small pouch in the heart) to your blood thinner is better than just taking the blood thinner alone to prevent another stroke.
This study tests whether closing a heart pocket called the left atrial appendage can lower future stroke or other clot-related events in people with atrial fibrillation.
