Who can take part

  • You are approved by the transplant committee to donate a kidney.
  • You are scheduled for a specific type of keyhole kidney donation surgery (hand-assisted laparoscopic donor nephrectomy).
  • You are not allergic to any pain medicines used in the study, like local anesthetics or opioids.
  • You do not take strong pain medicines (opioids) regularly.
  • You are in good general health (no major organ problems).
