Who can take part

  • You are 18 or older and agree to join the study
  • You have chronic heart failure with a reduced pumping ability (LVEF 40% or less, confirmed by an ultrasound of the heart)
  • Your heart failure has been stable for at least 6 months (no hospital stays or extra water pills needed)
  • You have been on steady heart failure medications for at least 3 months
  • You do not have very low blood pressure (below 100) or symptoms from low blood pressure
  • You are not currently using or planning to use nitrates, certain other heart medicines (like sildenafil), or have had recent heart procedures
