Who can take part
- You are 65 years or older.
- You are a patient in the surgical intensive care unit (SICU) and expected to stay for at least 48 hours.
- You can take medications by mouth or through a feeding tube.
- You are not currently taking strong sleep medications or sedatives.
- You do not have severe liver or kidney disease, deep sedation, or certain unstable heart/lung conditions.
- You have not been diagnosed with delirium in the past 12 hours.
