Who can take part

  • You are scheduled for a total knee replacement surgery.
  • Your health status is rated ASA I, II, or III (generally healthy to having some controlled illness).
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is between 18.5 and 35.
  • You are willing to participate and follow the study plan.
  • You do not have allergies to the medicines dexamethasone or bupivacaine.
  • You do not have bleeding disorders or take medications that affect blood clotting.
  • You do not have pre-existing nerve problems in your legs.
  • You do not have advanced heart or lung disease, or uncontrolled diabetes.
