Who can take part
- You have had persistent atrial fibrillation (a type of irregular heartbeat) that causes symptoms like palpitations, shortness of breath, or fatigue.
- You have had at least one episode of this kind of atrial fibrillation in the last 12 months.
- You are willing and able to sign a consent form agreeing to participate.
- You have not had any prior catheter ablation procedure on the left atrium (the upper left heart chamber).
- Your heart is pumping blood well (left ventricular ejection fraction above 40%, which is a heart function measure).
- You are under 80 years old and your body mass index is under 40.
