Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 80 years old.
- You are scheduled for elective (non-emergency) heart surgery like bypass or valve replacement.
- You are in moderate to high risk category (ASA II-IV) as assessed by your anesthesiologist.
- You do NOT have severe heart failure or very weak heart muscle (ejection fraction less than 35%).
- You do NOT have chronic lung disease, a collapsed lung, or very high blood pressure in your lungs.
