Who can take part
- Your child must be between 1 and 14 years old.
- Your child must be in good or moderate overall health (ASA score 1, 2, or 3).
- The surgery must take at least 2 hours.
- Your child must not have chronic lung disease (like asthma requiring medication or hospital visit in the last year), cystic fibrosis, or other serious lung conditions.
- Your child must not have certain heart or chest problems (like congenital heart disease, chest wall deformities, or a past chest surgery).
- Your child must not be having laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery.
