You may be eligible if you are 65 or older, having keyhole digestive surgery lasting over 2 hours, and have a moderate to high risk for lung complications.

Who can take part
- You are 65 years or older.
- You are in generally good health or have mild to severe health issues (ASA grade I, II, or III).
- You have a body mass index (BMI) between 18 and 30 (normal to overweight range).
- You are having laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery on your stomach or intestines lasting more than 2 hours.
- Your oxygen level before surgery is 94% or higher.
- Doctors plan to remove your breathing tube in the operating room.
- Your ARISCAT score (a measure of lung risk after surgery) is between 26 and 44 or higher.
