Who can take part

  • You have type 2 diabetes for at least one year, have never taken insulin, and your average blood sugar (A1C) is between 7.5% and 10%.
  • You are overweight or obese without type 2 diabetes, with a BMI of 30 or more, or a BMI of 27 or more along with a weight-related health issue like high blood pressure or sleep apnea.
  • You have not had major heart problems (like a heart attack or stroke) in the past 6 months.
  • You have not had weight loss surgery or taken weight loss medications in the past 3 months.
  • Your weight has not changed by more than 11 pounds (5 kg) in the last 3 months.
