Who can take part

  • You have had cataract surgery with a standard (monofocal) lens implant in one or both eyes.
  • Your distance vision with glasses or contacts is at least 20/32 or better in each eye.
  • Your vision has been stable and you have no other serious eye problems (like corneal disease, retinal issues, or glaucoma).
  • You can attend follow-up visits and follow study instructions.
  • For the group focused on near vision: You have the standard lens in both eyes, see clearly at a distance without glasses (20/40 or better), but your near vision is very poor and cannot read large print.
  • For the group focused on correcting refractive error: The eye to be treated needs at least 1.0 diopter change (a moderate amount), and your vision without glasses is at least 2 lines worse than with glasses.
