Comparing two surgeries for flat feet in teens

Who can take part

  • You are between 10 and 17 years old.
  • You have flat feet that are flexible (the arch flattens when you stand but returns when you sit).
  • Your flat feet cause symptoms like pain or discomfort.
  • Non-surgical treatments like special shoes, inserts, or physical therapy haven't helped enough.
  • You haven't had any previous foot surgery.
  • You don't have a neuromuscular disorder (like cerebral palsy or muscular dystrophy) or a rigid flat foot (where the arch doesn't move).
  • You don't have any other serious medical conditions that could make surgery risky.
