Who can take part
- You have a type of irregular heartbeat called atrial fibrillation that is not caused by valve problems.
- You have a higher risk of stroke based on your age and health history (scores of 2 or more for men, 3 or more for women).
- You should usually take blood thinners but have a reason to avoid them long-term.
- You do not have other conditions that require lifelong blood thinners, severe kidney problems, or recent major events like stroke or heart attack.
- You can take aspirin, clopidogrel, and heparin without allergies, and have no active infections or bleeding issues.
- Your heart structure, checked by ultrasound, shows the device can fit safely.
