Who can take part
- You are 40 years old or older.
- You have severe narrowing of the internal carotid artery (the main artery in your neck).
- You are scheduled to have a stent placed in that artery.
- You are able to walk and take care of yourself (score of 2 or less on the Modified Rankin Scale).
- You have a good 'temporal window' for an ultrasound (so doctors can see blood flow in your brain).
- You have not had a major bleeding stroke in the last 90 days, and you do not have severe infections, bleeding problems, or other serious illnesses.
