Inflammatory markers to predict stroke recovery

Acute Ischemic Stroke (AIS)

This study looks at certain blood test ratios (like monocyte-to-albumin and neutrophil-to-albumin) to see if they can predict how severe a stroke is and how well a person will recover. It's for people having their first-ever ischemic stroke and who have not had certain treatments or other medical conditions.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You have had an acute ischemic stroke (a stroke caused by a clot) confirmed by a CT or MRI scan.
  • You were admitted to the hospital within 48 hours of your stroke symptoms starting.
  • You have not had a prior stroke or received clot-busting medicine or a clot removal procedure.
  • You do not have any active infections, autoimmune or inflammatory diseases, severe liver or kidney disease, or blood disorders affecting white blood cells.
  • You are not taking immune-suppressing drugs, steroids, or have any cancer (excluding fully removed skin cancer).
