Ear injection to help with hearing speech in noise for people with type 2 diabetes

This trial tests a new drug called Paliroden, given as an ear injection, to see if it is safe and can help people with type 2 diabetes who have trouble hearing conversations in noisy places. It is designed for those with normal to mild hearing loss but who still struggle with speech in noise.

Who can take part

  • You are between 45 and 75 years old.
  • You have had type 2 diabetes for at least 5 years, with recent blood sugar levels showing an A1c between 7% and 9%.
  • You have normal hearing or only mild high-frequency hearing loss, but you have trouble understanding speech in noisy settings.
  • You do not use hearing aids or cochlear implants.
  • You have no history of ear infections, ear surgery (except ear tube placement over a year ago), or other ear problems.
  • You are not pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant, and if you can become pregnant, you agree to use effective birth control during the study.
