Who can take part

  • Your child must be between 4 and 14 years old.
  • Your child's vision test (after special eye drops) shows mild farsightedness or balanced vision, not nearsightedness.
  • Your child should not have any other eye diseases (like cataracts, glaucoma, or retinal problems).
  • Your child should not have serious health problems (like asthma, Down syndrome, or heart/liver/kidney issues).
  • Your child must not be allergic to eye drops used in the study (like atropine or Tropicamide).
  • Your child must not have used any other experimental treatments in the past 3 months.

Low-dose atropine drops to slow childhood nearsightedness

This trial tests two low-dose atropine eye drops (0.01% and 0.02%) to see if they can safely slow down the worsening of nearsightedness (myopia) in children. Your child would receive either one of these drops or a placebo (an inactive drop) once daily for up to 2 years.
