Who can take part

  • You are 12 years old or older.
  • You have moderate to severe depression, and your doctor plans to start treatment with fluoxetine (Prozac), escitalopram (Lexapro), or sertraline (Zoloft).
  • You are not currently taking one of these SSRI medications for this episode of depression, or you've stopped taking it long enough for it to leave your body.
  • You do not have other mental health conditions like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or an intellectual disability.
  • You are not pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant, and you agree to use effective birth control if needed.
  • You do not have a severe untreated physical illness (like liver or kidney failure) or take medications that could interfere with these drugs.
