Who can take part

  • You are between 25 and 40 years old
  • You are male or a woman who has not gone through menopause
  • Your BMI (body mass index, a measure of weight relative to height) is between 30.0 and 39.9, or possibly up to 41.9 if you are very short
  • You have not been physically active or trained for exercise regularly
  • Your weight has been stable (not changing significantly) for at least the past 2 months
  • You can provide medical records or photos showing your weight as a child (ages 10–17)
