How Ultra-Running Affects Your Kidneys

AKI (Acute Kidney Injury) Due to Trauma

Who can take part

  • Plan to run the Western States Endurance Run in 2026, 2027, or 2028
  • Be between 18 and 50 years old
  • Have no serious injuries to your muscles or bones for at least 3 months before the race
  • Not be pregnant
  • Have no history of kidney disease or problems
  • Not take medications that affect your kidneys (like water pills)
