  • You have chronic kidney disease with eGFR under 50 at least twice
  • You have low blood bicarbonate suggesting ongoing metabolic acidosis
  • You are between 21 and 85 years old
  • You do not have certain major health exclusions (like type 1 diabetes or uncontrolled blood pressure)
  • You must be able to consent and communicate in English
