Who can take part
- Age 18–75 years old
- Diagnosed with type 2 diabetes with blood sugar control levels between 7.0% and 10.0%
- Currently managing diabetes with diet and exercise alone, or taking metformin at a stable dose for at least 3 months
- Body mass index (BMI) between 25 and 50, with stable weight (less than 5% change in past 3 months)
- No severe heart disease, recent heart attack, stroke, or kidney/liver problems
- No history of pancreatitis, medullary thyroid cancer, or severe low blood sugar episodes in the past 6 months
