Benralizumab for Severe Asthma with Aspergillus Allergy

This study tests whether benralizumab, a biologic medicine, works well in real-world settings for people with severe asthma caused by an allergic reaction to a common mold called Aspergillus. You may qualify if you have hard-to-control asthma despite strong medications and recent asthma flare-ups.

Who can take part

  • Age 18–75 years old
  • Diagnosed with severe asthma that has required high-dose inhaled steroid medications plus at least one other asthma controller for at least 3 months
  • At least 2 asthma flare-ups in the past 12 months that needed oral or injected steroids
  • Blood tests showing allergy to Aspergillus mold (either a skin test or elevated antibody levels) and total IgE (allergy marker) above 1,000 IU/mL
  • Weigh more than 40 kg (about 88 pounds)
  • Not a current smoker and no smoking history of more than 10 pack-years
