This study looks at how patients wake up after foot or ankle surgery and whether a specific approach to coming out of anesthesia helps them think clearly afterward. Researchers will ask you questions about your memory and thinking while you're in the recovery room.

Who can take part
- You are scheduled for elective (planned) foot or ankle surgery at Stanford Health
- Your overall health allows for surgery (ASA status I–III, meaning you're in good to fair health with controlled conditions)
- You do not take opioid pain medications or benzodiazepines (anti-anxiety drugs) regularly
- You do not have a serious brain disorder, active psychosis, or psychiatric condition that would affect thinking tests
- You do not have active implanted devices like pacemakers or brain stimulators
- You can speak and understand English well enough to answer questions about your thinking and memory
