Who can take part
- You are 65 years or older (or 55+ if you are Māori, Pacific, or Indigenous).
- Your surgery is expected to take at least 2 hours, and you will stay in the hospital for at least 2 nights.
- You get a specific type of general anesthesia called TIVA (drips only, no gas) with a brain wave monitor (pEEG).
- You can understand the study and agree to join (even if you have mild memory issues).
- You do not have a serious illness that limits life to less than 3 months.
