Who can take part

  • You must be having an acute STEMI (a specific type of heart attack where a major artery is completely blocked)
  • You must be undergoing primary PCI (emergency catheterization to reopen your blocked artery)
  • You must be 18 years or older
  • You cannot be in cardiogenic shock (severe heart failure) when you arrive at the hospital
  • You cannot have a heart block (an electrical problem preventing your heart's chambers from beating together)
  • You must not be allergic to adenosine
