Who can take part

  • Age 18–65 years
  • Planned elective (scheduled, non-emergency) laparoscopic abdominal surgery under general anesthesia
  • Good overall health with no serious heart or lung disease (ASA status I or II)
  • No chronic lung conditions like COPD or restrictive lung disease
  • BMI of 35 kg/m² or lower (not in the morbidly obese category)
  • Not pregnant
